It’s Time to Celebrate!

June 4, 2021 is the inaugural year for this global initiative to recognize homeschoolers world over. It is a date to appreciate the hard work of your favorite homeschooler. Also, this a great avenue for raising awareness about home education as we share our celebrations across social media.

The first week in June traditionally signals the end of a school year. Therefore, it is an excellent time of year to honor your homeschooler’s academic achievements. For that reason, take a moment and look back at the beginning of this school year or your homeschooling journey in general and witness the growth, maturing and development of your child, and yourself. Lastly, as the homeschooling parent, remember this day is for you too!

How Do I Celebrate?

First brainstorm ideas, these should be as special as you and your children. Every homeschool is unique and a bright reflection of the talented individuals that contribute to it. For example, what is your favorite activity to do together? Perhaps indulge in it on this day. Don’t forget to capture some photos and share with others on social media with the hashtag #WHSD2021 and #worldhomeschoolersday.

Additionally, other ideas to consider might be to ask your kids how they want to celebrate. See what they think would be festive. The simplicity and beauty of what they come up will undoubtedly delight you and sum up their personality perfectly. Alternately, reflect over your year together, acknowledge the struggles, laugh, make a top 10 list! Here is our free Year-in-Review worksheet to print and use. Reminisce the moments that surprised, shed light on a tough subject, or just left everyone speechless. Remember the amazing experiences, locations and opportunities that can’t be constructed in a classroom. Dream with one another about the upcoming year and make some goals and loose plans.

Regardless of how you choose to spend this day, enjoy it and cherish the year with those you love.

June is a season of year-end award programs, graduations, or fun-filled field days. There are the year-end pictures alongside the year-beginning photographs. We already share our homeschoolers standing or sitting next to their stack of finished books for the year, or holding up a completed workbook. Let’s use this day to expand these milestones and stand together with our homeschool community to share with the world the one-of-a-kind learning that is shining from our homes.

This is now an annual day. Pick one way to celebrate this year. Choose another next year. There is plenty of time for it all. Be silly and simple or more serious and formal. Don’t compare yourself to others, just decide to do what suits you and your family and share it with one another or with us all. Remember to use #Worldhomeschoolersday #WHSD2021. Congratulations on a memorable 2020-2021 school year and may June 4, 2021 be a fun-filled day for your family to enjoy and remember.
